Marcos Franz
Film and television actor, musician, writer and acting teacher.
He began his film career as a teenager, starring in La mosquitera (2010), directed by Agustí Vila, in which he played Lluís alongside Emma Suárez, Eduard Fernández and Geraldine Chaplin. Years later he achieved widespread popularity with his role
as Gerard Piguillem in Merlí, the TV3 series that became an international phenomenon, especially in Spain and Latin America.
Throughout his career he has appeared in Spanish and international productions such as The Young Pope, directed by Paolo Sorrentino, in which he played Ángelo Sánchez; Knightfall, in which he played Prince Lluís of Catalonia; La Fossa, once again directed by Agustí Vila; and productions such as Kubala, Moreno i Manchón, Valeria and the historical film Quico Sabaté: sense destí.
He will soon appear in Els de Sau, a feature film directed by Elisabet Terri and inspired by the origins and career of the iconic Catalan band Sau. In the film he plays Ramon Altimir, the band's keyboardist, alongside Guim Puig, Pol Monen and Guillermo Lasheras. The film, currently in post-production, is scheduled for release in 2026.
Alongside his acting career, he works as an acting teacher, giving training in acting, stage work and on-camera performance.
In September 2026 he published his first book, Cuando dejé de ser yo (Alienta Editorial – Grupo Planeta), a non-fiction work exploring identity, public exposure and his personal experience in the years following the success of Merlí.
