The art of combining images and sound involves a whole series of elements beyond those described. To produce experiences in the viewer through the screen a whole series of needs must be solved both at the level of resources, as well as in the financial framework, the commercial area or the organizational plan to follow, among other things. All this is what is framed within what we know as audiovisual production, and today in FX Barcelona film school we will tell you exactly what it is.
The audiovisual production and its phases
Let's start with the definition of the term itself. Audiovisual production is an art form that requires planning, execution and revision. It can take many forms, from commercials to films, animated shorts, video clips, television programs, and even corporate videos. In short, any content created for media audiovisual requires production to exist, but what does audiovisual production consist of?
To understand this, we must divide production into five phases:
- This is where the project is born. During development, ideas are created, the script is written and financing is sought to carry it out.
- Preproduction. This phase takes on great importance, since it is the point at which all the planning is established, specifying all the details of the project. This is where the technical and graphic script is defined, actors and other personnel are hired, locations are specified, the shooting set is created, permits are managed and the necessary resources for the project are determined. In the case of film productions.
- Production. Production is the process in which all of the above is materialized. Filming involves the various departments involved in the project, such as the creative and technical teams.
- Post-production. This is the phase in which all the shots are taken and edited into a coherent story. This may involve removing mistakes, adding graphics or special effects, and creating additional audio if necessary, as well as adjusting the color and contrast of the images to present them optimally on screen.
- Distribution. Once the project is exported, all that remains is to distribute it, either for screening in theaters, application to festivals, or playback on television and other media.

Parts of an Audiovisual production team
This is a very broad field with many subfields within it. Moreover, there is no single formula to determine the production plan to follow, nor a certain number of people within it, but rather each project is a world.
Among the different professionals that can make up a production team we have the producer, the executive producer, the production manager, the production manager, the production assistant, the production secretary, and a whole group of assistants and associates.
