Surely you are already aware: on November 29th, we will celebrate the 10th Forum for the Creation of New 3D Audiovisual Contents and Cinema. One of the main attractions will be the premiere in Barcelona of the highly anticipated new short film by Carlos Baena, La Noria. Do you want to know more about the short film, its author, and the presentation? We'll tell you all about it in this post!
La Noria, a highly anticipated award-winning animated short film
La Noria is the most recent project by the renowned animator Carlos Baena, a work whose origins date back a decade. It is a horror animation short film, with Baena himself as the scriptwriter and director, alongside Sasha Korellis in production.
Carlos Baena's goal was to demonstrate that an animated production of the highest quality could be achieved from scratch without the need for major companies. Leveraging various parallel projects, the collaboration of other artists, and a crowdfunding campaign, he has managed to bring forth this work with surprising results.
In short, without revealing too much, the short film tells the story of a boy fascinated by a ferris wheel who encounters strange creatures. If you watch the teaser, you will see that the textures and animation are impeccable, reaching a level that only such outstanding audiovisual artists as Carlos Baena can achieve.
In fact, La Noria has already been receiving numerous awards since it began touring various festivals last summer. Among the appearances, nominations, and awards, the following stand out:
- Best International ShortFilm, Pixelatl, Mexico
- Audience Award, Lund International Fantastic Film Festival (LIFFF), Lund, Sweden
- National Jury Prize at Animalada, Seville Animation Festival
- Best Animated Short film, Screamfest Horror Film Festival, Los Angeles
- Best Short Film, VIEW Award, Turin, Italy
- Jury Prize, animago AWARD, Munich, Germany
- Audience Award for Best Animated Short Film, 29th Week of Fantastic and Horror Cinema, San Sebastian
