Turbo, animation at full speed

Dreamworks brings to Spanish screens its new animation proposal, Turbo, with an automotive touch and with clear reminiscences of the Cars saga, from its competitor Pixar. The main character is Turbo, a snail whose dream is to become the fastest in the world. When he miraculously acquires the power of super-speed, Turbo tries to pursue his dream, first befriending a peculiar gang of street snails and then trying to compete in his longed-for desire to win the Indianapolis 500.

The origin of the film takes place 10 years ago, when Turbo's director, David Soren, participated in a presentation of ideas organized by DreamWorks for its employees. He had 10 minutes to pitch a proposal for a one-page animated film and, as he tells it, he thought of it the night before and pitched it as "a The Fast and The Furious with snails." The animation studio saw potential in Soren's idea and bought the project, which is now landing in Spain.
