MD 2.0 is an educational audiovisual project that we have been discussing in recent weeks and will be presented in style at the Fórum FX Animation on November 29. However, if you want a sneak peek, we will tell you more details below!
MD 2.0, a real experience of working in animation and VFX
MD 2.0 is an educational audiovisual project that arises from the collaboration between Mundos Digitales and the CICE, La Escuela Profesional de Nuevas Tecnologías, Trazos, and FX Animation Barcelona 3D & Film School.
Students will have an unbeatable training experience, as they will participate in the real process of creating an audiovisual work, working just like in major companies in the sector.
The project focuses on the Animation and VFX areas, although our students from the Film Career have had the privilege of also participating in filming. They will also be present in the compositing and post-production phases, making FX ANIMATION the only school that participates in all phases.
What material will the students work with? None other than a short film by Félix Bergés, CEO of El Ranchito who has worked on powerful productions such as Game of Thrones by the American HBO.
The filming has already concluded, and the process follows the usual steps of a participative and online American multivendor production. It is a very demanding project that allows students to experience, for the first time, what they will face as top-level audiovisual industry professionals.
The next edition of Mundos Digitales, which will take place in July 2019 in A Coruña, will be the stage for the premiere of the final short film. Until then, there is a long journey ahead involving leading figures in the industry!
Who participates in MD 2.0 and will join us at its presentation in Fórum FX Animation?
In addition to Félix Bergés, in charge of the script and direction of the short film, there are important names in the sector involved in MD 2.0. The project director is Manuel Mejide, responsible for the International Congress of Animation, VFX, and New Media Mundos Digitales.
In charge of supervising the Animation area is Carlos Baena, an internationally renowned animator for his work in productions of Pixar and Paramount. He is also currently in the spotlight due to his animated horror short film La Noria, which will premiere at the Fórum FX ANIMATION!
Carlos and Jordi Grangel are responsible for character design. The two brothers, founders of Grangel Studio, have worked on the concept art of essential animated movies like Kung Fu Panda, Corpse Bride, or The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Meanwhile, Raúl Rocha (Illusorium Animation Studios), will supervise the entire post-production area. From his company, he has worked on films such as Ma Ma by Julio Medem and The Mist and the Maiden (Andrés Koppel) or on series like Félix by Cesc Gay.
