El Curso De Cine Fantástico Regresa a FX De La Mano de Àngel Sala Y Desirée de Fez

The Fantastic Film Course Returns to FX With Àngel Sala and Desirée de Fez

For the second consecutive year, the Monographic Course on Fantastic Cinema returns to FX Animation. A course that, despite being condensed into two weeks, will try to provide, as broadly as possible, a journey through the history of Fantastic Cinema. We are aware that this is a difficult, practically impossible task, but for this, we have a reference in the international fantastic cinema scene, none other than Àngel Sala, director for the past fifteen years of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.

The writer, screenwriter, film critic, and director of the best fantastic film festival in the world returns to the classrooms of FX Animation with the intention of providing new data and different points of view on the topics he addressed in last year's edition. An extensive and infinite history that will take new paths, new movements, directors, styles, and leading figures to make this new edition completely fresh and unique. Sala will dedicate the first week to laying the historical and stylistic foundations of Fantastic Cinema from its beginnings and classical period, providing an overview of a metagenre that encompasses different genres such as horror, suspense, science fiction, and a myriad of derivatives like adventure films, gothic drama, or thrillers.

Desirée de Fez

A great novelty for this edition is the presence, in the second half of the course, of Desirée de Fez, another specialist in Fantastic Cinema with extensive experience at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, where she has worked for over five years as the coordinator of some specialized books published by the festival such as “Sam Raimi: from transgression to neoclassicism.” Desirée writes for Fotogramas, El Periódico de Catalunya, and Guía del Ocio and is the author of one of the most important books on modern horror cinema in the last decade: “Key Films of Modern Horror Cinema.” Desirée will take over to delve into modern fantastic cinema until reaching the most recent films, thus demonstrating that the fantastic genre is not only one of the most exciting but also has a more than guaranteed future.

We look forward to seeing you at this new edition, it is going to be fantastic.
